I told my friend Janice how I really, really wanted to go to this ExpoMom. Why? Well, aside from it giving me a fair enough reason to drive South and see dear friends (ehem!), I learned from Janice, the great mompreneur behind ExpoMom, that this particular ExpoMom is going to be a little different. "This ExpoMom is going to be more intimate - with different areas catering to the different aspects of mommyhood," Janice told me at her recently concluded ExpoMom at Glorietta. Yes, friends, think mommy seasons. There will be four different areas of interest - Attachment Parenting, Pregnancy, Baby Care, and Kids Stuff.

This Expo will also feature FREE all-day arts and crafts activities for kids so that Mommy (and Daddy) can shop with ease.  These activities will be facilitated by Kids These Days MNL, Make My Day and Crafts and Party Bucket - experts in keeping little ones (and the not-so-little ones) busy and entertained.

I am sad because aside from all the activities, Janice mentioned there will be new product picks featured here. Wish I could be there this Sunday, but I am flying out to Oz for work! I will be missing out on a number of activities this weekend. Sad. So sad.

New Gen Care for the New Gen Mom

Are you a New Gen Mom?

After attending a talk hosted by Johnson's Baby a few Saturdays back, I have been asking myself this: Am I a New Generation Mom? I mean, being a mom today takes a lot of perseverance and hard work (what more being a single mom?). But as moms, we are also hounded by naysayers (who always think they know better) and traditional folks (especially here in the Philippines) that sometimes, being a mom of this generation takes a lot more determination.

A recent study conducted by BBDO Philippines, in partnership with Johnson's® Baby, shows that the New Generation Mom can be characterized according to five remarkable traits...

She does not, however, surrender all her duties and rather relies on such support to allow her to be the kind of Mom she wishes to be.

4. EMPOWERED BY TECHNOLOGY – She uses technology as both a resource and a tool. She’s constantly on Babycenter.com.ph to search for new vegetable recipes or arts and crafts ideas. She shares the same information with her fellow Moms on Facebook or Pinterest. Her IPAD is loaded with videos and games to keep her kids entertained.

5. HIGHLY EXPRESSIVE ORIGINATORS – She takes pride in being the “first to know” and the “first to share.” She is quite discerning in her discoveries and choices for herself and her family. And when she has a great, new find, she shares with her fellow Moms, who love hearing about this.

Many of you know I work full-time. Add that to a double full-time career in single parenting, and a part-time one in diaper-cake making, blogging, teaching, etc. Woosah! Life is FULL. But I don't mind. With parenting partners like Johnson’s® baby, a new generation mom like me has all the help she can get.

Harbour City's Baby Center!

This is such a late post. As it is always the case with travel posts and photos (I have my siblings constantly reminding me that I owe them photos, etc, even from trips two years ago). But my brother has yet to install new memory on my laptop, so I like to save the space. That, plus my external drive is FULL - blame it on full-sized DSLR photos that you just can't trash.  Anyway, I owe a friend a few posts on HongKong, so I thought I'd start with something easy to write.

I was telling a bunch of breastfeeding friends that the new baby rooms at Harbour City are way too cool. I've stopped breastfeeding RL when he turned 2, so I didn't really make use of these much during our last homeland trip (July - I know, eons ago, sorry!) but I just wanted to say how lovely they are! Nothing compared to the breastfeeding and changing rooms at our local malls. Nothing!

So allow me to share photos of one of Harbour City's uber-cool baby centers!

We actually made use of the new, albeit small baby room fronting Ocean Terminal's Toys R' Us (located right under the stairs) to change RL's diaper (and to throw away some boxes so we didn't have to bring them back to the hotel). I didn't take photos of that particular baby room because I wanted to check out this one. Also located inside Ocean Terminal, which is part of Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, this baby center is beautiful!

This one is beside the ladies' loo, and looks like it is part of the wall, you won't actually notice it is there, unless you notice the signs.

Yes, you may park your stroller here. The room is big enough to accomodate strollers!

I love how they thought about how some moms prefer to nurse in private. I remember trying to nurse RL in one of SM's nursing rooms and had to endure this lady's husband's numerous glances. I mean, gimme a break, mammary glands are mammary glands! Stare at your wife's, not mine! And I was wearing a bib ha? LOL!

Anyway, I hope one of the malls take into consideration the actual needs of nursing moms and come up with something as cool as this.

Welcome to this Crazy World, Baby M!

My BFF cum partner-in-crime et confidante, J and her hubby RJ had the surprise of their lives yesterday! At 1am, their baby M decided it was finally time to come into the world by poking through his mom's waterbag. Roughly 8 hours later, and about 2 hours of pushing to no avail, baby M was born via C-sec!

Biggest baby in today's batch of new arrivals.

Weighing 8.3lbs, baby M is a big newborn! Adorable, nonetheless. Makes me want to have another one... sike!

I love the smell of babies. This one is no exception. I stayed with J and RJ the whole afternoon, and then some of the evening (I was sitting out the rain).
