Facing My Giants.

i wasn't planning on going to the weekly d-group (i haven't been attending anyway since the Christmas Party back in 2006). but because of recent events and since i was already on the phone with D friday night, i decided to drop by.

D was going to show a movie, so i thought it wouldn't hurt to visit, plus i wanted to see if G will show up like she said she would. so i went, and watched. and had the most amazing experience ever. ok, so i've come across movies in my lifetime that had somehow-somewhat the same wow effect, but let me tell you, watching "Facing the Giants" (Sony Pictures) really was an experience in itself. i am not really a sports movie nut. sure, i enjoy sports-themed movies, but Facing the Giants isn't just about football. let me tell you, the rush of emotions was just overwhelming -- i didn't know whether to shout for joy or to cry. this is a great movie! so great, i went out and bought the DVD from odyssey the next day and watched it again last night.

~~~
here are a couple of lines from the movie that had great impact on me:
When you accept defeat, that's what you'll get.
God will send the rain when He's ready; you'd better prepare your field to receive it.
~~~

what are the giants in your life? do you deem them impossible to conquer? God knows how narrow the road i am in right now, but you know what? with God leading the way, tell me, what is impossible for Him?

NOTHING!

~~~
i found out thursday night that a good friend (of mine and R's) has been cheating on his wife for almost a year now. i was one of the few who thought so highly of him, and now this. :( this man was on a pedestal, for tokwa's sake! out of all of R's good friends, he'd be the last person i'd ever think of as a cheating, good-for-nothing, soab... grrrrr.... (ok, calm down, K), but alas, he's been seeing a girl he met from his uh... far country, and has been seeing her here in manila behind his wife's back. so in a series of texts, i tell him that I KNOW. heck, i've been running to him for help and advice and now i found out that he hasn't been helping me out with my situation because he'd be a hypocrite to do so. the thing is, he was trying to squiggle his way out of my accusations, texting me that he "loves his wife and kids". but that doesn't reverse his philandering ways now, does it? it irritates me that someone like him would resort to sin, even when he knows how painful it is to be sinned against. does that make sense? i mean, he knows my pain, and often hears about my pain because i call them up practically every week to tell them about my pain, and yet... here he is, risking it all.
"is it worth it?"
i asked him.
"it depends." he replies.
golly, i soooooooooooo want to hit him on the head!
~~~

over the weekend, i saw how much i've changed. God has given me so much to learn the past year. He kneaded me so i can rise. i have learned that the devil CANNOT steal my joy if i do not allow him to do so. i've learned to face my giants head-on. situations come and go and now i know the purpose for each hurtful experience. i am wiser, and a lot stronger. i can stare adversity in the eye and say "ha, my God is bigger than you." it took a while for me to get here. it took a long while, actually. this morning, as i stood in front of our promo girls, i didn't blink when i told them my life is worth a 3-season (maybe 4 or 5) blockbuster teleserye. i don't mind. my life and everything that happened (painful, harrowing, scary et al) was worth it all. i don't mind being the little David that i am, knowing that all the Goliaths of the world will eventually fall.

"The army fighting for me is GREATER than the army fighting against me." i am elated that the Lord is on my side. because, NOTHING is impossible for the Lord.

God's Promise :)

Psalm 34:4-10

"I asked the Lord for help, and He answered me. He saved me from all that I feared. Those who go to Him for help are happy, and they are never disgraced. This poor man called and the Lord heard him, and saved him from all of his troubles. The angel of the Lord camps around those who fear God, and He saves them. Examine and see how good the Lord is. Happy is the person who trusts Him. You who belong to the Lord, fear Him! Those who fear Him WILL HAVE EVERYTHING THEY NEED. Even Lions may get weak and hungry, but those who look to the Lord WILL HAVE EVERY GOOD THING."

~~~
not that i want to pry, but you are reading my personal blog... anyway, is your life pleasing to God? do not let sin hinder your prayers. God is ALWAYS on the side of those who do right.
ALWAYS.
Generation Curse
Exodus 34:7 "...The Lord forgives people for evil, for sin, and for turning against him, but he does not forget to punish guilty people. He will punish not only the guilty people, but also their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, and their great-great-grandchildren."
Numbers 14:18 "The Lord doesn't become angry quickly, but he has great love. He forgives sin and law breaking. But the Lord never forgets to punish guilty people. When parents sin, he will also punish their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, and their great-great-grandchildren."
these are just a couple of those verses in the Bible that confirm that sins of the forefathers are passed on from one generation to the next. have you ever felt you were cursed? i know of a girl who's really attractive but she seems to have no luck on her side when it comes to men. the ones who fall for her are either committed, married or fall out of love after some time. she feels cursed. but has anyone told her that this could be a consequence of her background? a part of her heritage, a legacy left to her by her parents? her parents are separated.
God is very clear in the bible that man and wife should not separate. "So there are not two, but one. God has joined the two together, so no one should separate them." Matthew 19:6 so what happens when couples do separate, they leave a legacy of divorce to their children and their descendants.
the same goes for any other sin. no matter how big. take pregnancy out of wedlock, for example (hehe). i wouldn't be surprised if a single mom has a single mom for a mom.
but see, as much as most don't know that there is such a thing as a generation curse, most are naive to the fact that you CAN break the curse! see, it can work the other way around too.
Parents who keep their eyes from evil and their minds from impure thoughts will not only receive blessing in their own lives but also in the lives of their children. Their own past failures are less likely to be repeated in their children's lives.
Here is an outline of what parents can do to break that generation curse and pass on a legacy of godly lives to their kids:
Family iniquities, or self-will in a particular area of life, can be passed from generation to generation. How do we stop the cycle and find freedom in Christ? Here are four basic action steps...
1. Acknowledge the specific iniquity. For help in how to pray, read Daniel's prayer in Daniel 9:3-19.
2. Ask God to cleanse the iniquity in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
3. Ask God to reclaim any ground given to Satan and tear down every stronghold.
4. Claim Psalm 103:17 that from now on, the righteousness of your family will be your heritage for your children and for future generations. Also, commit this great verse to memory. For the breaking of a curse, here is a suggested prayer you may find helpful:
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come to you desiring to be free from all curses and their results. I thank you for saving me and cleansing me of my sin. I confess that I belong to you. I now confess and repent of all my sins, known and unknown. I now confess the sins of my forefathers. In the name and through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ I break and renounce the power of every demonic curse that was passed down to me by the sins and actions of others. I now renounce, break, and loose myself and my family from all demonic subjection to any human being who has in the past or is now controlling me or my family in any way contrary to the Word and the will of God. In the name of Jesus Christ, I break the power and hold of every curse that has come to me through disobedience-mine or my forefathers. I claim release and freedom through the blood of Christ. Amen.
