This summer, RL wanted to do a lot of things. As in, he had his whole game plan on what activities to do - drums, swimming, golf, Kiddie Crew, art, etc. Of course, he couldn't do everything at the same time... so while he had drums and golf on most days, we saved a week for McDonald's Kiddie Crew.

Summer is not complete without the annual Kiddie Crew Workshop at McDonald's! We were blessed to get a slot for the ABSCBN Branch, as it is nearest the office - next to EDSA Panay, which is currently under renovation.

This isn't RL's first time at McDonald's Kiddie Crew. He missed last year's though, so he was eager to do this again this summer. Over 400 participating McDonald's stores are conducting Kiddie Crew workshops this year. This awesome family program has been running since 1992. McDonald's is a pioneer in getting kids to learn the ropes in running a store. The kids go through a fun-filled 5-day learning workshop that encourages them to develop a sense of discipline, hard work, teamwork, responsibility and sharing.

RL was surprised to find his first-grade classmate, Ramon, as one of the passengers in a car that drove-thru that day. So yes, that was extra exciting for him. Our HR Manager, Mikey, also drove-thru this particular branch unplanned. RL was so proud. Haha!

The kids also learned how to make their own McDonald's Cheeseburgers. Having done this several times in the past, and being a regular at KidZania, RL felt like quite the expert - he even asked that they leave out the dill pickle for his set of ingredients.

Aside from actual store duties, the kids also do arts and crafts, singing and dancing.

Overall, it was a week well-spent. The workshop culminated with a recognition and awarding ceremony.

Kiddie Crew participants will get a workshop t-shirt, cap, bag, I.D., workshop materials, pin/badge for every activity, apron, chef’s hat, meals for five days, and a certificate. Kiddie Crew workshops will culminate in Grand Graduation ceremonies in nine major areas around the country such as Pampanga, North Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, and Metro Manila.

#MommaDiaries | McDonald's Burger Shop at KidZania!

A few months ago, the kids and I were invited to try out the new McDonald's Burger Shop at KidZania. I didn't get to publish the post right away, since I got entangled in the hustle and bustle of work, Sydney preps and BentoMommas. I finally get to sit down and write today. If you are a parent and you haven't taken your kids to KidZania, I suggest you save up and book a visit. It is worth it. Kids will enjoy the concept (you can read more about it here) and well, it trumps any other theme park in the country.

So when McDonald's finally opened its Burger Shop at KidZania, the kids were more than thrilled! Line up for the Burger Shop and have your child learn the ropes in making McDonald's iconic Cheeseburger.

Yep, a new McDonald's store is in town but it isn't like any other burger shop! It is kid-size, where kids as young as 4 years old are crew members - learning how to make burgers the McDonald's way. Welcome to McDonald's KidZania!

Getting briefed on what the task ahead will be. The kids had to wear specially-made McDonald's aprons in order for them to feel like they are real crew members inside a real McDonald's kitchen.

Both my kids have had McDonald's Kiddie Crew experience. RL, who was part of the Kiddie Crew two summers ago (he had a bridging program for first grade this past summer and couldn't join Kiddie Crew at the branch near us), was giddy and excited (more like, feeling like an expert, hehe).

Just like at a real McDonald's kitchen, the kids were taught the proper prep procedures in making the popular Cheeseburger. But first, they were reminded on the importance of cleanliness and proper hygiene.

First step: Cleanliness and hygiene! All participants must carefully wash their hands in a kid-sized sink that resembles what crew members use in every McDonald’s kitchen.

With every Burger Shop visit, kids will get the chance to put together the Cheeseburger - complete with all of its tasty ingredients - the 100% beef patty, a slice of American Cheese, tangy pickles (my favorite!), minced onions, ketchup, mustard and perfectly toasted buns.

Like B, tiny workers get the chance to play and learn important life values at McDonald’s Burger Shop in KidZania. Key lessons incorporated in the activity are the value of hard work, responsibility, discipline, and even self-confidence and social skills. 

“Making a McDonald’s Cheeseburger is an exciting activity in itself, but the real treat for kids and their parents is the experience and values learned while doing the activity. Together with KidZania, our hope is for kids to learn and appreciate the importance of hard work and responsibility, at the same time building their social skills and self-confidence,” said McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang.

#AlDubKoTo | #AlDub Fever at McDonald's!

I can tell you that a lot of my friends are going crazy about #AlDub. While I don't quite understand the story behind the Kalyeserye, I must admit that it is a brilliant idea! And I suppose the millions of tweets generated today from viewers and fans going crazy over Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub) is evidence enough that this tandem works. And sells.

A couple of weeks ago, McDonald's Philippines broke Philippine Television with their #AlDub X McDonald's Chicken Ala King commercial.

Yesterday, McDonald's hinted that there is a Part Two to their #AlDubKoTo endorsements.

I know I have been blogging a lot about McDonald's. Please excuse the flooding of McDonald's posts but my kids are just too excited about the Minions being back at their favorite fast food joint.

Last Saturday, we were invited to attend a McDonald's event. True enough, they featured the Minions! The little boy was so happy!

Note: I had written this post using my iPhone LAST WEEK. I couldn't upload the photos so I saved the draft post and made mental note to upload the photos once I get decent signal. Alas! I forgot about it! So posting this a few days late. Huhuhuhu. Oh well.

Yay! New Happy Meal!

RL and I noticed that a crew member changing the hanging tarp outside the McDonald's store near the office the other day. But on the drive home, they had switched it back to the old tarp featuring Adventure Time.

Today, however, I saw that they had finally changed the tarp and the NEW! Happy Meal features toys from the new DreamWorks movie, HOME!

Yay!

Needless to say, Momma drove thru to buy a couple of Happy Meals. I wasn't so sure if RL would be as excited about the toys. Looking at what they were offering, it looked more like these would be perfect for toddlers and not RL's age group.

McDonald's Philippines, may I suggest that you include the drink options of Hot Choco or Milk with the Breakfast Happy Meal? My son wants another breakfast drink option aside from the Juices. I don't let my kids drink soda, and they only have the occasional Iced Tea. Or... Maybe... Since parents are usually the ones buying (and eating) these Happy Meals on the drive to and from work, how about allowing us the option to have coffee with it?

McDonald's x KidZania!

If there is one thing my little family is looking forward to in 2015, it is the grand opening of KidZania Manila! Headquartered in Mexico and founded in 1997, KidZania opened its first park in 1999. Today, KidZania has 16 locations in 13 countries, as well as 12 new sites underway across the globe - one of which is in the Philippines, and it is set to open SOON!

WHAT EXACTLY IS KIDZANIA?

KidZania Manila will feature McDonald's Burger Shop, where kids will learn the ingredients that go into every McDonald's Cheeseburger, and each step of the process in making it.
