Throwback? NOT! Wendy's Salad Bar is Back!!!

Just two weeks ago, while walking around a mall and thinking about what to eat, I was wishing we still had Wendy's old Salad Bar. I remember how my friends and I mastered the art of stacking veggies and macaroni on a tiny plate, just so we'd get our money's worth. Haha! Do you have the same memories of this particular fast food offering? Well, reminisce no more, because Wendy's just brought back their popular Salad Bar! Woohoo!

Woot! The Wendy's Salad Bar is back! Only P199!

Thursday last week, while sulking in the hospital because of RL's confinement, I came across Wendy's post on their Facebook Page about them bringing back a popular community choice - their Salad Bar!

But yeah, being stuck in the hospital meant I had to wait 'til we were back home. Was actually planning on getting my fill yesterday, but then the little boy got sick again, and had to go visit his pedia. Oh well. I will have my fill... soon!

This Month at McDonald's... #HappinessInABox

Taking a quick break from work, because I haven't contributed to this blog in weeks! I have a lot of pending posts, but I am writing this because it's a quickie. Hehe. 

I was driving past McDonald's today, when I noticed they changed their Happy Meal billboard announcement. Yay, Furby and TMNT for this month's Happy Meal! So I made a quick detour to get myself breakfast - only... they ran out of hotcakes early, so I opted for McNuggets (good thing they started cooking these early - didn't want the rice meal because I had brought lunch to work).

Was a tad disappointed that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys didn't have the actual figurines. These are actually mini finger skateboards with TMNT designs (similar to the popular Tech Deck) and ramps. I'm sure Tech Deck fans will go crazy. So I opted for Furby.

To tell you honestly, I am not so much a Furby fan. My kids are into it, but I have my prejudices, given my family history with Furby toys. LOL! My brothers and I own two of the classic Furby toys. Both of which found their place deep inside our toy closet because they were just too noisy. Hahaha, seriously, they would wake up in the middle of the night and chat away. Pretty freaky too, given that you made sure they went to sleep inside the dark closet. Oh well. The new ones seem okay. And the ones at McDonald's are pretty safe. Haha!

So yeah, I am excited to bring this home to A - who loves Furby. It would have been perfect if these were made out of plush. Hehehe.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman at McDonald's! #Happinessinabox

RL and his "bro"

We saw the trailer of Mr. Peabody and Sherman during a recent movie we caught at the theatres. When RL saw it, he knew he wanted to catch it. Not because it's a cartoon, but mainly because it's a dog movie - my son has this special affinity to dogs. His relationship with our Shih Tzu, Mickey, goes beyond that of a boy and his dog. They are more like brothers, really. In fact, the dog thinks he's top dog and superior to RL. He has serious insecurity and territory issues when it comes to the boy. But don't tell him I told you that. Haha!

So he, and I mean the boy, was so excited to see that McDonald's is featuring Mr. Peabody and Sherman for their Happy Meal this month.

Only 6 toys to collect this time, but we're ecstatic that they're mostly puzzles! RL loves puzzles and mazes!

I haven't had the chance to take photos of what RL already has, but I will do so when I get home tonight! The mazes take him away from the iPad - good ol' clean fun. I enjoy these toys, too, as they remind me of those from my childhood - blast from the past! 

Meanwhile, if you haven't seen the trailer of Mr. Peabody and Sherman yet, here's the extended one. I think it's a great movie that will introduce a little snippet of history to kids. Wouldn't you want to get on the WABAC and travel through time?

My mom took me and my little brother RL out to McDonald's Saturday morning. We attended an event because McDonald's came out with their NEW! Smurf's Happy Meal. My brother and I like collecting the toys from McDonald's Happy Meals. We were trying to collect all the Minions, but my mom said the stores sold out in just a week!

So for this new Happy Meal toy, my brother and I made a deal that we were going to collect all twelve Smurfs! Last Saturday, we completed our set!

Meet the Smurfs and get to know what each Smurf toy can do...

PAPA SMURF
Papa Smurf sits on a saucer with pull-back action. Pull him back and watch him speed and spin along.

GREEDY
Wind up Greedy and his arms swing. His hips also rock in a "butter churn" dance move.

BAKER
Baker doesn't do anything. He's a rubber figure holding a rolling pin, but makes a perfect gift for bakers!

JOKEY
Jokey is my brother's favorite Smurf. He plays with him the most. That's because he's in a ball and he loves rolling him across the floor.

HEFTY
Hefty is the Smurf who is doing a hand stand. You wind him up, and he starts walking on his hands.

HANDY
Like Baker, Handy doesn't do anything. He is also a rubber figure. He holds a hammer and a tool box. I gave him to my mom because she is a Handy Mommy!


SMURFETTE
Smurfette is my kind of girl. She is brave! Push the lever on her back and her arms join together in front, like she is casting a magic spell.

CLUMSY
Clumsy is my favorite Smurf. That's because he lights up! Press a button on his back and he glows blue! 

VEXY
Now Vexy is also one cool gal. Press her back and she spins the spoon like a pro.

BRAINY
Wind up Brainy and he walks while reading. Such a nerd!

CRAZY PARTY PLANNER
My brother also likes Crazy. That's because his party hat is also a mini horn. Blow into it, and it makes a whistle sound. Honk!

HACKUS
Hackus makes a cool pen hugger. Push on his shoulders to open his arms up, and he's ready for a hug!

Guess who's back at McDonald's?! Oh yes, happy-happy, joy-joy! It's Hello Kitty!

Just yesterday, after I driving-thru for brunch at McDonald's, I wondered about the next toy for their Happy Meal. RL tries to collect all the toys for boys, while A would occasionally collect the girl toys if she is into it. The previous Happy Meal had Barbie for girls, and she was never into the doll.

When I got to the office, I saw McDonald's making the announcement on their Facebook Page - it's Hello Kitty and VooV for this month's Happy Meal!

So guess who will be having McDonald's everyday for the next week or so? LOL!

Checked Twitter before leaving the house today, and read about Burger King Timog's 20-peso Whopper Promo. A and I had waffles and Turkey Bacon, but we decided our tummies had space for a Whopper today, so we went straight to BK before the office.

The line at the Drive-Thru wasn't bad at all. Good thing you can avail of the promo even if you don't dine in.
