I am in a singing, happy mood today. When I am this joyful, I usually sing out loud and talk in singsong.

At the office co-op earlier, while listing down my purchases on the sales order slip, I was trying to recall what else I needed to buy. Spotting the packs of sugar on the bottom shelf, I burst out in song...

KAYE: "Sugar..." 

I had meant to sing Maroon Five's "Sugar" when Leny, the lady who mans the co-op sings along with...

"Honey-honey!"

LOL! Today is a great day!

RL: "Mom, what does 'come again' mean?"
K: "Come again? You mean to welcome the person back someday?"
RL: "Hmmm... So why does my teacher say it all the time? Even if we're not going anywhere?"
K: "What do you mean?"
RL: "Sir J always goes 'Come again? Come again?' when someone is talking to him..."

RL Funnies | BUYING A BIRD!?

We were in the car on the way to Rockwell for a workshop. Yaya J was telling me about her sideline. She has started selling all sorts again, because she will be sending two kids to school next year.

J: "Kanina kasi, kaya di mo ko mahanap, pinatawag ako ni Ma'am Catherine. Bibili kasi siya ng Avon. Regalo daw niya sa sarili niya sa pasko." (When you were looking for me earlier, I was at Ma'am Catherine's. She is going to buy things from Avon as Christmas gifts for herself.)
K: "Nagbebenta ka na ulit ng Avon?" (You're selling Avon stuff again?)
J: "Yup, kasi alam mo na, dalawa na papasok sa school next year, so kailangan kumayod ng extra." (Yup, because I will have two kids in school next year, so I need to make extra money)
RL (interrupts): "What? Tita Catherine is going to buy a bird?!!"

LOLOLOL! All this time, RL was eavesdropping!

If you're reading this and you don't quite get it, the tagalog word for bird is ibon. Hehehe. That's what happens when toddlers eavesdrop on conversations.

I thought this was really funny. Did you think so too?

RL Funnies: THINGS.

My little boy cannot pronounce TH-. There are some words that begin or end with TH that he says with an F.

For example, the word bath becomes baF: "Mommy, I need to go and take a baF." or "Mommy, ate won't open the door to the baFroom."

Or say, the word throw. He says, Frow or Frowing like "Momma, ate is Frowing her food!"

I've been correcting him lately, and he is mindful of his TH words, but tends to exaggerate that I always end up snickering (bad momma, I know). He says baT for bath now - without emphasis on the word having an H because it almost always ends up as baF. But he tries.

Yesterday, while in the car, on the way to Araneta Coliseum for work, he was asking if we could go to my mom's house (A has been sleeping over since school ended because she is spending time with my mom and KY).

RL: "Can we go to Ama's (Grandma) house tonight?"
K: "Nope. I don't think so. We will finish late."
RL: "But I haven't been to Ama's house for plenty of days already." (he has no concept of weeks)
K: "Why? What will you do there anyway?"
RL: "I want to see if Ama has new Fings." (meaning things)
K: "What are Fings?!"
RL: "I want to see if Ama has new stuff pala! STUFF! Not the other word."

Aba, mautak. He knows his synonyms. LOL!

Yaya Diaries: GATAS PA DIN!

So the other night, after writing the post on Yaya and her "gatas ng bear", I kinda mentioned to her how I blogged about it, and how people found it extremely funny (and ridiculous). She was a tad defensive at first, but later on, laughed because she really did think the milk of that particular brand wasn't really milk-milk.

Later that evening, we had this conversation...

Y: "Kung gatas pa din pala yun ng cow, hindi pala honest ang N" (referring to the company that carries the milk brand).
K: "So teka, di ka na iinom ng Bear Brand?"
Y: "Ay hindi na, kahit yung gatas na choco nila kasi gatas pa din pala ng cow."
K: "Ganon?"
Y: "Alaska nalang iinumin ko next time, kasi yun sure ako, gatas ng tao."

People, this really, really happened.

Ay, ewan talaga.

Yaya Diaries: GATAS NG COW

Our nanny doesn't eat beef. Nor does she drink or eat any beef/cow/cattle/carabao by-product. And that includes milk and selected ice cream. Apparently, this is something associated to a traumatic childhood experience. 

She used to eat this particular ice cream brand, but once, when we were buying a scoop at the mall, she saw a sign that said "made from fresh carabao's milk"... and almost puked.

Two days ago, I saw her drinking milk.

K: "Aba, Ya, nagbagong-buhay ka na?"

Y: "Bakit?"

K: "E gatas yan e. Diba, ayaw mo ng milk kasi gatas ng cow?"

Y: "Hindi naman gatas ng cow 'to! Tingnan niyo, 'Bear Brand'! Gatas ng Bear!"

Bwahahaha! Ay, ewan! 

Yaya Diaries: BOOKING A PROMO FARE

Our nanny is going home this summer to officially get married. She's been with her boyfriend for the past 6 years, have two kids (born a year apart), and have been planning this vacation for months!

Last week, she had asked me to look out for promo airfare. I had asked why, when it is cheaper for her family of four to take the bus, because they pay for two adults and the kids (a 4 and a 5-year old) just sit on their laps. 

"Matagal pag-traking! Kawawa naman mga bata!" 

So today, upon seeing a promo on Facebook, I called her and asked for her final dates. 

K: "Kailan mo bang balak umuwi?"

Y: "April 20, uwi muna ako Bulacan. Tapos sa 24, lipad na kaming Bohol."

K: "24? Eh, Holy Week yan, wala nang promo fare. Hindi ba pwedeng May 20, kasi ayun o, P5,000+ lang, apat na kayo."

Y: "Mabibitin naman kami. Magpakasal pa ako."

So I told her I'd check another airline, and will her call again. Later...

K: "Ya, meron dito, sa ibang eroplano, may April 21, pero P7,000+!"

Y: "Ay, mamamatay na ako sa utang niyan."

K: "E sabi mo hindi pwedeng March, di din pwedeng May, yan yung pinakamalapit sa April 24 na may promo. Yan na pinakamura."

Y: "Pwede bang isa lang muna bayaran ko?"

K: "Ha? Ikaw lang sagot ko no. Hindi ko na kaya kung tatlo kayo tapos uutang ka pa ng dalawang buwan. Kita mo naman enrollment ng mga bata sa May."

Y: "Hindi nga, pwede bang isang ticket lang bayaran sa eroplano, tapos hulugan yung bayad ko sa kanila?"

K: "Walang utang sa eroplano no. Kailangan mo ng credit card!"

Y: "Magkano ba isang ticket?"

K: "Mga P1,800..."

Y: (Thinks for a while then says) "E ba't P7,000+, dapat wala pang P4,000 kasi kakandungin lang namin si A at D!"

K: "Ya, hindi pwedeng ikandong ang 5 years old at 4 years old."

Y: "Ha! E bakit sa jeep at bus, pwede? Wala bang promo na libre ang bata?"

Ay ewan.

RL Funnies: GUILTY!

This post was initially part of the last post about being sick. I realized, however, that since that post had a giveaway, I thought I'd post this separately. Not that I want the whole world to know, but I can't resist sharing this tidbit from Friday morning. You'll know what I mean when you read my retelling below. Hehehe.

Funny thing that happened Friday morning... (my son will probably kill me for posting this story one day, LOL) I bumped into RL on the way to the bathroom. I suppose he was surprised to see me come out of the bedroom. He probably thought I was still taking a bath. When I walked back into the bedroom, I saw him on A's bed, with his hand in his pants.

K: "What are you doing?!!"
RL: "My tutuy's ouchie..."
K: "Well, don't touch it. It's going to be more painful if you keep touching it."
I wanted to check but knew he wouldn't come near me if I asked to see... So, I dressed up and right before going down to make his bento lunch, I called him near and asked for a hug. He comes and I took the opportunity to check and see what was wrong.
K: (pulling his pants down) "Let me check and see if it's red."
RL: (quickly pulls his pants up) "No!"
K: "But I want to see if we need to put medicine."
RL: (squirms a bit, and hesitates) "No."
K: "Why?!"
RL: (looks at me with guilty eyes) "There's candy!"
So I pull open his underwear and find two squished Trolli Strawberry Puffs inside his briefs, next to his you-know-what!!! He was smuggling candy! We told him he couldn't have any because of his cough. I couldn't stop laughing!!! And RL? Well, he cried (bad Momma).

Hunny, you can't get away with it. You have the same look your dad has when he doesn't tell Momma the truth. LOL!

Ah! The things kids do nowadays! 

Mustaches and Musings: Superbook!

SUPERBOOK!

I found out about Superbook a few weeks ago. My mom says I watched the classic version when I was little, but I don't remember. Anyway, my mom, brother and I went to a Superbook event. It was a Saturday. I actually thought that Superbook was just some sort of book fair, where you can buy books! Hahaha! But when we got to Galleria, I thought to myself, "Why are we at the theaters?"

The guy who hosted the event, Icko Gonzalez, was my mom's classmate in Middle School (that would be years ago! I will be in Middle School this year!). He had a short speech about Superbook. He told us that Superbook is a cartoon series that tells everyone about Bible stories. I got very curious. I thought, "Hmmm... this is something new." Then Icko had us watch an episode called "Let My People Go!" The episode is about Moses and the Israelites. I remember learning about this in Kid's Church. I loved how the cartoon made it easier for me to understand the story about the plagues and how the Israelites escaped Egypt's cruel Pharoah.

After the show, Icko announced that we can now watch Superbook on TV! That made me very happy. I told my mom right away, "Can we watch it?!!!" She told me I had to wake up early because it starts at 7:30am!!! You can watch Superbook on Saturdays and Sundays on GMA 7.

Last Saturday, I woke up to my mom's alarm (very early! 7am!) so I got to watch Superbook. I was SUPER EXCITED! I was looking forward to it! The story they showed was called "In the Beginning", a story about Adam and Eve. The next day (Sunday), I woke up early again to watch Superbook Classic in Tagalog. The episode was "My Brother's Keeper", which was about Cain and Abel.

I really love Superbook.

My mom told me today that Superbook got high ratings when they first aired on TV. I am letting her post the news here for you to read:

SUPERBOOK'S PILOT EPISODE GARNERS HIGH RATINGS

It's proven and the numbers say it all!  Superbook's television come-back last June 1 was well received by Pinoys, young and old alike, as it took the 15th spot on the Overnight Data of the National Urban Top Daytime Programs list provided by Nielsen Audience Measurement.

Many Filipino families from different parts of the Philippines woke up early and watched Superbook Reimagined's pilot episode entitled "In The Beginning."  According to Nielsen, Superbook Reimagined got a 2.9% of the individuals watching during its timeslot, which earned it a spot on the top 15 tally.

The ranking was based on all daytime TV programs between that aired last Saturday and the audience covers those living within the national urban areas.

With all the support,  positive feedbacks and high ratings, kids and their parents can expect more fun, excitement and learnings from Superbook Reimagined.

CBN Asia’s Superbook Project Head, Icko Gonzalez, expressed his delight upon receiving the good news.  "The word to describe my feeling about the success of the first episode is 'Super!" I'm so happy that there were so many people who supported us, that they were excited about Superbook. The Book is Back!

What? Who? Why, Superbook, of course!

Yes, folks! Remember how I invited y'all to last Saturday's Superbook SuperLaunch? Well, Saturday morning, the kids and I got to attend a special screener of Superbook at Robinson's Galleria Cinemaworld!

We got to watch the episode "Let My People Go!" - Superbook's take on Moses, the plagues, and the Israelites' adventure out of Egypt. My kids were enthralled. As expected, the little boy kept asking me questions. Watching the screener made me think about my own personal adventures with the old Superbook. I loved this series as a kid! I still do. 

I must admit, I am in awe of the new graphics. And yes, that's Joy, Chris and Gizmo off to a new Superbook adventure!

Icko Gonzalez, Superbook Project Head in the Philippines (who also happens to be a good friend, classmate and brother), mentioned that Superbook had such a great impact in his life that he imagines Bible Stories as depicted in the cartoon series. This also holds true to the legacy Superbook established in me - as this is also how I imagine Bible stories!

And guess what we learned during last Saturday's screener? Superbook will be back on TV! That's right!

This Saturday, 1 June 2013, Superbook Reimagined shall air its pilot episode "In The Beginning" on GMA 7 at 7:30am.

And that's not all! Classic Superbook fans are in for a treat as well!

Superbook Classic episodes will air every Sunday, starting June 2, also at 7:30am on GMA 7!

So why relaunch an old classic? "Superbook aims to capture the hearts of the children of today," says Icko. I doubt that it's a goal that's hard to reach. Already, A has set her alarm for Saturday and Sunday. "I am waking up in time for Superbook," she exclaimed this morning.

As for me, I can't wait for Saturday. I am excited to see how this well-loved and yet, reinvented favorite, takes root in my kids' hearts. This mom is ready to relive the greatest adventure of all time. See you on Saturday (and Sunday), Superbook!

Yaya Stories: Limes.

So the nanny came to me the other night complaining that the little boy wasn't listening to her. She, apparently, had been reprimanding him (and her own kids, who, yes, still live with us), to no avail.

Nanny J: "Pinapagalitan ko na nga, di naman nakikinig. Sige lang laro ng laro, e sinabi ko madumi yun." (I was reprimanding them, and yet they didn't listen. Instead, they kept playing, even when I told them it was dirty.)
K: "Ano ba nilalaro ng mga bata na ayaw mo palaro?"(What were they playing with anyway?)
Nanny J: "Madikit kasi, hindi ko matatanggal sa couch pagdumikit etong 'Limes'." (It's really sticky and I won't be able to get the 'Limes' off if it gets on the couch.)

So I looked at her, and looked at what she was holding. Limes. Too funny. I couldn't stop laughing, because she started laughing too when I told her it was "S-L-I-M-E" and not limes.

Yaya Stories: Baril-Barilan

A and I were in the room studying when we heard the kids making a ruckus downstairs. Turns out, RL and D (our nanny's eldest) were using RL's Chuggington Tracks as guns (!!!), and pretending they were warriors.

RL: "Pow! Pow! Pow!"
D: "Psh! Psh! Psh!"

I went down to investigate, and to later reprimand them for their "violent" play. Our nanny volunteered an explanation...

Nanny J: "Baril-barilan, Ma'am. Si RL naka-45. Si D, naka-water gun!"

Bwahaha! 

RL Funnies: A-B-C!

I took the kids to Centris Walk yesterday - it was SaturKIDSday. SaturKIDSday happens when I feel I've been so detached from home - mainly because of work, and then sometimes because I get so out of whack.

So anyway, the kids got to ride Wowowheels as much as they wanted to (we had unlimited vouchers) and got on the bungee gym for three minutes each. Pretty soon, they were spent and wanted drinks.

We went to nearby Chatime for some Chocolate Mousse drinks. While waiting for our drinks, RL declares we were to play a game. "A-B-C! A-B-C! Let's play the game where we say words with the letters!" My mom always plays this game with him to help him with patience (this game to while away time so he doesn't notice and gets bored). So ok, we were about to play when he told us his rules. 1st round, animal names; 2nd, fruits; 3rd, veggies.

K: "Ok, I go first. A! Animal, anteater."
RL: "Great job, mommy! My turn! B! Fruit... Uh... (Shrugs)"
A: "Fruit, RL!"
RL: "I don't know!"
A: "B! Buuuuhhh... You know, your favorite fruit!"
RL: "B? Buuuuhhh... Ah! B-ango!"

RL Funnies: Squished!

My little boy and I have been playing "squished" for more than a year now. The trick was to pretend I was asleep over some part of his little body, squish it with body weight and see him attempt to get free.

It's been pretty fun the past year or so. This morning, I attempted to play "squished" with him, but with a little more difficulty.

K: "Squish!" (I lie across his upper body and pretend to be asleep)
RL: "Ooooof!!!" (Struggles)

After struggling for about 10 more seconds...

K: "Oooouuuuuccccchhhhh!!!!"

He bites me.

Lol! I'm never playing this again.

RL Funnies: Trick or Trick!

We were already in bed when my little boy decided to have a word with me...

RL: "Next time, don't trick me again, ok?"
K: "Trick you?"
RL: "Yes, trick me!"
K: "But I never trick you!"
RL: "Yes, you did! Remember, you said you weren't going to bring the iPad then you were hiding it in your bag, and I looked and looked inside the cabinet, the drawers, under the bed, behind the clothes, all over your room, and I can't find it because you brought it to the office! You said you didn't bring it but you did! You tricked me!"

Okay... do i have an old guy in a 3-year old body for a kid? Lol! Can't trick him, nope! No, sir!
