Healthy Homes = Happy Homes

Please bear with me. I am writing this in the middle of a very busy week. Catching a little air, so I am trying to blog a bit. My backlog is... eeps, long, and I need to tick some off my to-do list. It has been a crazy two months, and I promise I shall write about it on another post.

At a not-so-recent #BetterMe event, the SoMoms and their guests got to learn more about Lysol Philippines and their commitment to making homes healthier homes. Sick!

So the little boy has been sick a lot lately. His throat lining must be so thin, it gets scratched easily. Just when I thought we were finally off the nebulizer, the nanny tells me I need to get more Ventolin because he has started coughing again. All he had were mangoes. And he was fine that day. I'm thinking, allergies? I hope not. He loves mangoes!

We haven't been back to see the kids' pediatrician in months. I know, I know, I'm a bad mom. I am blessed to have a doctor/surgeon for a neighbor though, (Hi, Rin and Doc!) and he's my go-to person when it comes to small medical issues. Thank you, Lord, for Doc A!

Hmmm... why do some doctors charge an arm and a leg for services anyway? Just last month, with the Measles outbreak scare, I had called another pediatrician's office (reco'd by a friend) to ask if the kids can go get their shots. I was quoted a whopping amount for it! I need to give up a month's worth of groceries just to get my kids' boosters updated! And to think the neighborhood health centers are giving those shots out for free. I need to seriously invest in Health Insurance. Argh! It's so hard when you're the sole provider. You have to give up one thing to have another.

My mom says health is a great investment, and I shouldn't even think twice when spending for it. You only live once, right? My emergency fund has been put to good use last year. I just hope none of the kids get anything serious this year.

Just Swish It!

Our old nanny has this habit of storing things in the attic. A few weeks ago, while looking for a pair of goggles, I found a paper bag with these inside.

Hello!

I haven't been posting. I know. I have been in a lot of pain the past week. First, it was stomach problems. I've always had tummy problems - a Gastro thing I got from college, and because this is a "lifetime" thing (they say), I got it last week and it was bad. I still think it's because of all those food from Korea, but maybe (I think) my liver is acting up. I need to start eating right.

Then, after lunch Friday, my tooth started hurting. I am due for a root canal soon, and my dentist was at a dental convention over the weekend. I wanted to pull my tooth out right away. Let me tell you, I would rather give birth than get a toothache. Ang sakit!!! 

Today, after taking pain medication for the nth time, I finally received word that she can fit me in for that root canal tomorrow! BEST. NEWS. EVER.

So please excuse the absence. I shall blog again when I am no longer in so much pain. Haay!

My not-so-little girl A has super, super red lips. Ok, maybe I should say she HAD super, super red lips. When she was less than a year old, my relatives would reprimand me for letting A wear lipstick - when really, she had none on.

So much so that her lips are now dry, chapped and dull. :( *sigh* There are times when her lips actually look like there are craters on them (yes, craters!!!). I get so OC that I want to smother her lips with petroleum jelly - which she hates.

Sick

...and I don't like it. The kids and I are off to our annual trip to the homeland on Thursday, and we're all down with the bug. I don't know how we caught it, but RL had the sniffles, then I caught it, then now, A has it too. And it has mutated into one big, fat bug! We're all on antibiotics. Nyar.

I don't really like dealing with sickness, especially one that involves the kids. It gives me stress. I also detest getting sick along with them (to think I opted to get the flu shot this year), because I can't take care of them the way I should. Yesterday, I had a head-splitting headache that just won't go away. I literally had tears in my eyes!

Took RL to the pedia today, and I thought I was well enough for work in the afternoon. But the headache and fever came back with a vengeance after lunch, and I just had to get myself back in bed. Or die.

My mom called to say we should watch out, because there's a crazy virus going around. Yea, if it hasn't reached us yet (what do you call this, if not crazy). And yes, my brother says we have to keep resistance up, so that means, we're hitting the parks (and the gym) for good ol' exercise when this bug's done and dead.
