BEWARE: Mango-ong Franchise Scam!

That original Mango-ong post was a long read, so I decided to split the post into two. If you're looking for the MO/franchise scam post, you're on the right track. Read on.

I am a Mango-ong addict. It's official. I have it once a week. More if I run errands at SM, where you are most likely to find a kiosk or cart.

A few months ago, while searching for franchise information on Mango-ong, I came across a Facebook page. I liked the page (as I love the brand) and recently got this in my inbox:

BEWARE! Mango-ong is currently not open for Franchise. Don't be duped.
Two weeks ago, I learned from BG, a good friend and ex-coworker (one I haven't been in touch with for years - he isn't on Facebook) that they actually own this gem of a business. WOW. We spent two hours on the phone discussing how he and his wife AG came up with the idea (they also own Chicharon Espesyal) and how they prayed for Mango-ong. And APPARENTLY, THEY HAVE NOT OFFERED FRANCHISING PACKAGES FOR MANGOONG.

So who owns the Mango-ong account on Facebook, pretending to be Mango-ong AND offering the business for franchise?

I asked BG about that and about the letter I had received. He already had a name. And was quick to send me articles about this man posing as legit owner of Mango-ong. Man, if this poser owned Mango-ong, then why does my friend own and operate all Mango-ong branches in leading malls?

Apparently, this guy (not the same name on the letter above, but a certain JAC) has been a business copycat since who-knows-when. If you google for his name, you will find him in the middle of lawsuits for pretending to be this and that, and duping honest Filipinos of their hard-earned money. It is the same MO (modus operandi) he is now doing with Mango-ong. To date, there have been a number of so-called franchisees calling the legit Mango-ong office, asking for help because the poser can no longer be found. Having charged the would-be franchisee a sum of P400,000 for franchise fees and start-up stock/ equipment, he no longer shows up after receiving the lump sum.

And because BG and his original Mango-ong DOES NOT and currently has no plans to offer the business as franchise, these "investors" are at a loss. And as much as BG would want to help out these victims, clearly, he is also a victim here, what with this JAC guy using the Mango-ong business to his advantage and to the disadvantage of hapless Filipinos.

Already, legit Mango-ong stalls around the metro and nearby provinces have put up disclaimers denouncing the claim that they have offered the business for franchise. And for the general public to be aware of the ongoing scam... A scam that is well-thought of and well-planned! Apparently, would-be investors are even shown a commissary and a mango farm!

See that piece of paper? That disclaimer says they are NOT open for franchise.
The actual notice posted on all kiosks and carts of Mango-ong.  Potential investors, BEWARE!
I had asked BG about the likelihood of having competitors (as is with any booming Filipino business, competitors usually appear within the first 3 months of operation), and he actually doesn't mind the competition. But for a business whose name and concept have both been used maliciously to dupe clueless individuals? Then it is cause for concern, and of course, a lawsuit. Mind you, the Mango-ong poser JAC uses the same trade name AND logo, as well as kiosk design, concept, etc. What can be the motive behind the act of using the same trade name, logo and concept BUT to fool people into thinking you are the real thing.

Well people, I am sorry to say, it is NOT the real thing. Nope, there is only one Mango-ong.

EDIT: Mango-ong IPO Decision here. Don't be duped!

May I ask you readers to share this information on your social media accounts, blog, etc. such that we get the word out? Thank you.

  2. Dear Anonymous,

First of all, I am in no way connected to Mango-ong.

Secondly, why are you questioning the validity of my blog when I think I have posted enough evidence as GIVEN TO ME by the REAL owners and operators of Mango-ong. I think SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE at that.

Third, I don't think I have to prove anything because this post CONTAINS ALL INFORMATION YOU NEED TO CONTACT MANGO-ONG'S HEAD OFFICE TO VERIFY THE CLAIM ON THIS BLOG POST.

So, "para di ka mabiktima" and para klaro po tayo at ma-prove ko sa yo na totoo na may scam na ganito, call GREEN MANGO-ONG FOODS CORP and ASK THEM ABOUT IT. The warning I posted came from their owner.

    MANGO-ONG FOODS CORP, 984-7855.

    Sincerely, K

  7. Hi! Dun po sa victim po ng mango ong scam, sino po ang nakausap niyo, is it Prudent entrepreneur specialist inc? Or the green mango ong foods corporation. Nakapag inquire po kasi sa prudent, and they are open for franchise daw sa mango ong.. Thanks!

  18. @Anonymous January 9, 2014 at 4:35PM - Mangoong IS NOT open for Franchise. If someone approaches you to offer you a Mangoong franchise, it is a SCAM. Please read the blog post. That is what I've been trying to explain here.

  19. Hi. I am surprised about these infos. I was searching for the mangoong site that was given to me by a certain JACK or JAC. I just talked to him today about my interest to get a franchise. Now im confused who really is the rightful owner of MANGO-ONG? The website given to me http://www.mangoongfranchise.com.ph/ seemed legit and they do offer franchising of other food cart. I hope the real owners and those who have been duped by the other company, PRUDENT ENTREPRENEUR SPECIALIST Inc (by a certain Jac), would come out in the open to clarify once and for all the issues for everyones sake.

By the way, thank u for writing about this.

    1. The best way to fool anyone is to come across as legit. Mangoong is owned by Green Mango-ong Foods, and it is not up for franchise.

I suggest calling the Mangoong office first. 3324376

    2. I believe JAC no longer transact personally after he was entrapped by DILG sometime in 2010.

  20. I suggest you verify the SEC registration of
Prudent. If you are talking to JAC or Jessie, Ruthchel, Angela..then you are dealing with the scammers!

  21. Hi, JM. I am coming out in the open very soon. And JAC and the rest of the scammers will all get into jail! I am just protecting myself and my family as I was threatened by JAC, which was blottered already and part of the criminal case I will charge him and all his kasabwat.they are also operating in pampanga, his 'wife' ivy manages it.try to search cutillas in Google.you will find the answer to your confusion.

  34. Hi. Share ko lang experience namin. Victimized din po kami. We just opened this month. Late na lang namin nalaman, thanks to our sources. Sa una pa lang nakakaduda na talaga ung office which is the Prudent nga po. Maliit, madumi, ung alam mong nakakaduda na talaga. Then siningil pa kami ng 10k para lang sa back board na kung tutuusin kaya na yun ng 2-3k. Then lagi delayed delivery ng manga at singkamas. Minsan hinog pa. I think un na ung modus nila. Idedelay nila ung delivery para mainis ka or gumive up kna. First PO namin delayed. Grabe.

Sana 1 day magkita-kita lahat ng naloko nila.

  36. I'm so glad that the original Green Mango ang won the IPO case against the scammer Prudent. With this, I'm hopeful that the case I filed against them would bring me good news too. And yes, to the new victim, uubusin nila ang pasensya mo at once you confronted them, they will terminate your contract, they will tell you that you violated the MOA. That's what they did to me. And to the last comment, im just waiting for the resolution,if my case will be dismissed then I'll seek help from the media.

  37. Hi Anonymous. Bakit sa dami ng nag complain andun pa din sila sa the same address operating the same modus operandi at patutuloy na nanloloko ng tao.

    ReplyDelete
Birds of the same feathers.
